Although the Covid19 crisis continues, our partners from ALAPLAF restarted their activities in June respecting strict security measures: only patients with a previous appointment are attended and, apart from consultation hours, the staff works from home.
The 226 IUDs sent by Healing Venezuela in January have benefited 85 teenagers and 141 adult women. At the same time we sent 1500 pregnancy tests together with HIV/syphilis tests, not available otherwise in Venezuela, and menstrual cups, too expensive for most of the population.
According to our collaborators in the country “the need of help grows constantly due to the acute social problems we are facing, apart from the Covid19, maternal and child mortality, sexual and gender violence against women, children, girls and teenagers, slave trade and prostitution, framed by a deepening poverty that touches 9 in 10 Venezuelans, half of them unable to access even the basic food basket”
Healing Venezuela has recently been involved in different initiatives related to diaspora organisations engaged in a humanitarian response to the crisis.
Our masks haven been received by the surgical department at the Dr. Francisco Torrealba in the Guárico state.
Thanks to the donation of our friend Roddy Rodríguez and the Gracithan community in Europe the equipment will benefit the community through the San José medical service.
