Healing Venezuela has recently been involved in different initiatives related to diaspora organisations engaged in a humanitarian response to the crisis. As a result, The Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination (DEMAC) reached out to our chairwoman Cinzia De Santis to participate together with twenty-seven other diaspora representatives worldwide in several consultations for the drafting of the Diaspora Humanitarian Response & Engagement Good Practices Report.
Based on the consultation process fourteen good practices were developed with twenty-eight concrete examples of each practice implemented by the diaspora organisations that shared details and data on diaspora humanitarian engagement. These identified good practices and examples demonstrate the challenging areas of humanitarian assistance in which such organisations consulted have been successfully responding to crises and emergencies.
This guide aims to deliver practical and useful tools/mechanisms to directly inform other diaspora organisations in future humanitarian responses and also to identify synergies and links between diaspora organisations and the humanitarian ecosystem in order to strengthen it.
To continue our initiatives related to diaspora engagement, Healing Venezuela will be participating in the Diaspora Voices: Good Practices of Diaspora Organizations, an event organised by DEMAC, taking place on Tuesday, 30th August 2022. The event will follow a series of interactive discussions based on the good practice guide where diaspora representatives will share experiences on how to overcome challenges on the way.
