Financial Accounts for the first half of 2020

Although the pandemic has had an effect on our fundraising events, we continue to hold a strong financial situation. The main focus of our activity during this period was on the supply of PPE and medical supplies, covering several Venezuelan regions; our food programs, and the support we offer to medical students.Partly due to the pandemic, some of our projects in Venezuela had to be put on hold.

During the first half of 202 we received two grants from the LATA foundation, one for our ALAPLAF project and the other one to be used as part of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, for which we are extremely grateful.

According to the latest reports, more than 90% of the population in Venezuela is below the poverty line with three in every four Venezuelans living in extreme poverty. It's not a surprise that the number of Venezuelan refugees is second only to Syria. Healing Venezuela continues to concentrate its work on helping the most vulnerable in the country. We are also involved in projects sponsored by international bodies to increase the visibility and effectiveness of diasporas’ humanitarian efforts.

The changes we have seen in the last few weeks are very hard to come to terms with. The Ukrainian tragedy and its political consequences are hitting all of us hard and in different ways, and Venezuelans in the UK are joining initiatives that the generous British public is putting in place to alleviate the crisis. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering from this man-made disaster.

End of the Year Message

It's officially winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the greyness of the skies echoes the news of yet another global challenge. We hope to brighten up a little this season with the summary of what you helped us achieve this past year. Your support meant a lot to us and to the thousands of people who have a better life thanks to the work we do.

Third Quarterly Report 2021

During Q3, despite the many challenges, Healing Venezuela has been able to continue supporting thousands of people in the country thanks to our donors, volunteers, doctors and partners on the ground who relentlessly work to help others. Second quarterly Report

A successful vaccination campaign in the UK is bringing hope that at some point life here will get back to normal. But the situation in Venezuela continues to be dire and the tide of refugees is creating even more stress to health systems in neighbouring countries.

Since our last report 3 months ago, in the UK, we are seeing the light at the end of the COVID19 tunnel. But the situation in Venezuela didn't improve. In fact, it got worse.

The challenges of the pandemic around the world continue and have only made things worse in Venezuela. Of the total deaths there, 33% are health professionals. Malnutrition has also worsened in the country. Because of this, during Q3 we mainly focussed on delivering PPE to health centres and on continuing and expanding our food programmes.

Covid-19 pandemic in Venezuela

The peak of the Covid-19 in Venezuela could take place between June and September 2020, according to a study recently published by the Venezuelan Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences.

Second Quarterly Report 2019

Although the political conditions in Venezuela continue to be uncertain, we’ve had a very successful quarter thanks mostly to our donors and our Venezuelan partners.

Q1 2019 Healing Venezuela

The news from Venezuela is bad and not getting any better. Refugees have overwhelmed the region's neighbours, blackouts have produced more disruptions and deaths, and the political scene -which seemed clearer at the beginning of the year- is as confusing as ever.

AGM

On the 15th of January at the Royal College of Surgeons in London we had our AGM where we presented 2018 results. It was a very exciting opportunity to meet old and new friends and to share with them our achievements and the challenges we face in 2019 both in Venezuela and in the UK.
