An estimate of 27,000 doctors have left Venezuela, almost 50%. The same is happening with postgraduate students (junior doctors) who are crucial in the running of state hospitals. To prevent a massive exodus and an even more significant decline in medical attention, we fund basic expenses for 130 postgraduate medical students in 8 large hospitals in the country. Junior doctors are chosen by the coordinators of the medical schools on the basis of specific financial and performance criteria defined by Healing Venezuela with the commitment to remain in the country for 2 years after graduation.
